Indexkeeper

Which sitemap URLs are not indexed? Extract your sitemap's URLs and compare them with Google's index

Paste or drop your XML sitemap to get its URL list (with lastmod, duplicates removed, as a CSV). Add an export of your indexed pages from Search Console and the tool lists every sitemap URL that is not in the indexed list, newest first, plus the indexed URLs that are missing from your sitemap.

Your files never leave your browser. Everything runs in this page's script (tool.js, readable, no libraries): nothing is uploaded or stored.

1. Your sitemap

XML sitemap, .xml.gz or a text sitemap (one URL per line). Several files at once are fine.

    or paste it here

    2. Indexed pages (optional)

Search Console Pages-report export of the indexed pages (.zip or its Table.csv), or an index-check.py CSV.

      or paste it here

How to get the two inputs

      1. Sitemap: open https://yoursite.com/sitemap.xml (or the one listed in your robots.txt), select all and paste it, or save the file and drop it in. A web page cannot download files from another site, so for a sitemap index the tool lists its child sitemaps with a ready curl line for each; save them and add them too. Gzipped .xml.gz files work as they are.
      2. Indexed pages: in Search Console open Indexing > Pages, click View data about indexed pages, then Export > Download CSV. Drop the .zip here as it is, or its Table.csv. Tip: switch the filter at the top to All submitted pages first.

Limits: Search Console's export lists at most 1,000 example URLs, so on a bigger site a sitemap URL can be missing from the export while it is in fact indexed. For a complete per-URL answer, inspect the URLs through the URL Inspection API: our free index-check.py reads your sitemap and writes a CSV you can drop in as input 2 (only indexed states count as indexed). URLs are matched exactly, so http vs https, www and a trailing slash count as different pages, as they do for Google.

      What the results mean

      ResultWhat to do
In the sitemap, not in the indexed listInspect a few in Search Console's URL Inspection tool to see the reason (Crawled - currently not indexed, Discovered - currently not indexed, noindex, redirect, canonical). Recently changed pages (top of the list, newest lastmod) may simply not be processed yet.
Indexed, not in the sitemap (orphans)Either a page you want (add it to the sitemap) or one you don't (old URL, parameter or duplicate: redirect it, set a canonical, or noindex it).

To watch the list change over time, press Send to Compare: the result opens in our export comparison tool as the older file; next week add a fresh export as the newer one. Pages that left the index: how to find which ones and why.

Indexkeeper checks this every day in Chrome (not released yet)

Indexkeeper is the Chrome extension we are building: it reads your sitemap, checks each URL through Search Console's official URL Inspection API, and alerts you when a page drops out of the index or a new sitemap URL never gets in. Free for 50 URLs; Pro $9/month. It is not on the Chrome Web Store yet; leave your email and we send one message when it is.

You're on the list. We'll email you once, when Indexkeeper is live.

Indexkeeper is not released yet; the box above only collects emails for the launch note.
